After Care Program
Curriculum Guide
The curriculum guide for the Next Level Enrichment program will be developed based on the students selected for the program and their areas of need in math and reading. Assessments will be implemented immediately to determine individual needs of the students served. The curriculum will be developed and implemented by a curriculum specialist who will consistently monitor the implementation of the developed curriculum.
Targeted Literacy
Parents and guardians are encouraged to participate in NLEP programs that teach parenting skills, help eliminate the stigma of illiteracy and increase awareness of school standards and a child’s educational needs.
After Care Program
Next Level After Care, is designed to provide and option for parent who are working and do not have means to pick-up their children until after work. The program will be operated by qualified counselors.
The program schedule is from 4:00 to 6:00 pm Monday thru Friday. Includes time for homework help, outdoor or open play, enrichment activities (reading with reading partners), and free time.
Parent involvement
Extensive research has shown that students achieve more when their parents are involved in their education. Next Level Summer Enrichment Program understands the critical role families can play in their child’s education.
Here are a few ways that research supports that you can support your child this summer.
- Academic achievement increases when parents are involved in their children’s education.
At Next Level Summer Enrichment Program, we encourage you to read with your child nightly and ask them what they have learned each day. Reading, in particular, improves greatly when parents and children read together at home. Reading aloud with a child contributes significantly to your child’s reading abilities. The more intensively involved the parents are, the greater the positive impact on academic achievement.
- Parental involvement leads to better classroom behavior.
Parental involvement not only enhances academic performance, but it also has a positive influence on student attitude, self-efficacy, and behavior. A parent’s interest and encouragement in a child’s education can affect the child’s attitude toward summer camp, classroom conduct, self-esteem, absenteeism, and motivation.
